The Task: Students in the new hybrid phd program were given a rather ill-defined task. In order to better learn about behaviorism, they were first given a weekend to individually come up with script ideas to “sell behaviorism” as a commercial (1 minute or less). In class on Monday, they were assigned to groups of 3 or 4, and given just 3 hours to come up with one joint script, shoot the video, and edit it. The results of three of the four were posted on youTube and can be seen below (all 4 are are available here):

The Thinking: After showing the videos, we do the “directors’ commentary” – students would explain the part of behaviorism that they were trying to sell, and how they approached the problem of selling it in video. It was clear there was a deep understanding of behaviorism going on!
